We are preparing for the future and we want input from you - our residents.

Every 10 years the city updates its Vision Plan to prepare for the future. Resident input is crucial to ensure that future residents enjoy a quality of life that is as good or better than what we have now.

‍DeLand 2050:

The most recent Vision Plan, DeLand 2050, aimed to:

     • Promote sustainability;

     • Protect and enhance quality of life;

     • Use resources efficiently; and

     • Invest in efficient and sustainable infrastructure.

The 2050 Vision Plan was developed in 2010, a time when the country was emerging from an economic recession. Ten years later, viewpoints may have changed so it is time to take another look at our community.

The population of the City was approximately 27,000 in 2010 is now over 34,000 and growing each year. Developing a framework to guide this growth has become very important as the City is faced with new development proposals that have become a critical topic for our community. The City is looking to update its vision to address this growth.

‍Let Us Know:

Over the next several weeks, we will be holding workshops where you can learn about the original plan and hear what has been expressed about DeLand through our community surveys. As part of the workshops, you will be able to provide additional input into our visioning process.

Your next opportunity to submit comments to the City is to:

Attend one of the public events that have been scheduled around the DeLand region. You will be able to discuss the present and future of the DeLand region with our staff and provide input about “You Are DeLand”. ‍

Look for our YOU ARE DELAND logo and tell us about your vision for DeLand! To get the word out, post a picture of yourself on Facebook or Twitter with the hashtag #YouAreDeLand at our two selfie spots downtown.
