Being prepared means safeguarding your home, your family, your pets and yourself. To make sure you are ready, public safety officials recommend residents stockpile at least a three-day supply of bottled water, nonperishable food and medicine. Have a plan for your family and your pets. Take time now to put together a survival kit and an evacuation plan.

The typical warning time for storms is about 96 hours. But there are cases in which a storm will form and give as little as 24 hours to prepare. This page contains links to valuable information to help you prepare, develop a plan for your family, assemble emergency supplies and monitor emergency weather information. Don't delay, act now!

The Second Chance program is not designed to be a working humane society nor is it a full time shelter. Because it’s a temporary holding facility, DeLand residents who choose to give up an animal need to contact one of the area shelters to make the necessary arrangements.
