The DeLand City Commission is seeking applicants for the vacant City Commission seat following Jeff Hunter's suspension by Governor Rick Scott.
This would be a temporary appointment to Seat 2 of the DeLand City Commission. The appointee would serve through the end of the Term for Seat 2 which expires in November 2020 or for a lesser period as determined by the Governor of the State of Florida in accordance with State Law.

The Commission has set the following timeline for consideration, interview and selection of an appointee:
- 6 p.m. Monday, August 6, 2018 - The City Commission will review the applications and create a shortlist of candidates to be interviewed. Here is the public notice regarding that meeting.
- 6 p.m. Thursday, August 9, 2018 - The City Commission will interview candidates and will select a candidate after the interviews are complete.
- *6 p.m. Monday, August 13, 2018 - This meeting will serve as a possible overflow date for City Commission interviews and selection should that process not be completed on August 9th.
- 7 p.m. Monday, August 20, 2018 - The newly appointed City Commissioner will be sworn into office.
