April 11, 2019

Crews will begin replacing trash cans citywide on Monday, January 22.

Beginning Monday, crews from WCA, which is contracted with the city to provide waste services, will replace trash cans as they are left out on the resident’s designated trash collection day. Each resident will be given a new can that will be the same color as the cans currently in circulation. The switchover is expected to take about four weeks to complete.

Commercial trash cans will also be replaced.

In an effort to educate the city’s residents on waste services, each trash can will include a sticker that gives instructions on where to place the garbage can on the curb, information on days that trash is not collected and what items should not be placed in the garbage such as paint, tires and propane cylinders, among other things.

Recycling bins will not be replaced at this time.
