Thirteen residents have applied to be appointed to the City Commission Seat 2.

Thirteen residents have applied to be appointed to the City Commission Seat 2.

This would be a temporary appointment to Seat 2 of the DeLand City Commission after Governor Rick Scott suspended Jeff Hunter. The appointee would serve through the end of the Term for Seat 2 which expires in November 2020 or for a lesser period as determined by the Governor of the State of Florida in accordance with State Law.

The applicants are:

The City Commission will meet at 6 p.m. Monday to discuss how to move forward with selecting an appointee. The Commission will then meet with candidates on August 9 for interviews with August 13 serving as a possible overflow date.

The appointee is scheduled to be sworn into office at the beginning of the City Commission’s August 20 meeting.
