(DeLand, FL) – A water main break Tuesday morning left businesses in the vicinity without water for several hours.

A contractor fixing a reclaimed water line at the intersection of Woodland Boulevard and Orange Camp Road ended up breaking a water main at about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, leaving several businesses without water.

By 4 p.m., most customers’ water had been restored.

Businesses east of Woodland Boulevard from about Golf Club Drive/Deerfoot Road and south to the West Volusia Regional Shopping Center that lost water are being advised by city staff of a precautionary boil water notice. There were also a few homes that were affected nearby and are being notified of the precautionary boil water notice.

Crews will be working through the night to fix the water main line. The eastbound lane of Orange Camp Road at the intersection is expected to be closed for several days as it will need to be repaved.

More information will be released as it becomes available.
