With the school year quickly approaching, the City of DeLand, Spring Hill Neighborhood Association and many community partners will be providing families with backpacks and supplies.
The 11th Annual Mayor’s Backpack Giveaway is scheduled to take place from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday, August 7, at the amphitheater in Earl Brown Park, 815 South Alabama Avenue.
Backpacks will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis. Once in line, families will be given tickets to ensure they receive a backpack.
Vendors will be located in the park to provide school supplies for the upcoming school year.
The health fair will include child immunizations provided by the Florida Department of Health. Covid-19 vaccinations will also be made available by FDOH for both children and adults. Children receiving a Covid-19 vaccination must be present with a parent or guardian and sign a consent form.
Rising Against All Odds, Hispanic Health and other healthcare providers will also be on site providing different health screenings including blood pressure, glucose and cholesterol screening will also be provided.
