Wednesday, September 4 Update
- All reports are that the city sustained minor damage overnight. Only a few reports of trees and power lines down and two spots where there was localized flooding. Damage assessment crews will be out during this morning, but we are not expecting to find much else.
- City offices are expected to reopen Thursday.The City Commission meeting previously scheduled for tonight will be rescheduled for Wednesday, September 11.
- The city’s Citizen Information Center is expected to close at noon Wednesday, September 4.
City of DeLand Information
All non-emergency offices for the City of DeLand will reopen Thursday.
City Commission meeting
The City Commission has rescheduled its regular meeting canceled due to Hurricane Dorian.
General business from the September 4 meeting agenda will now be considered at a special-called City Commission meeting at 7 p.m.Tuesday, September 10. The meeting will be in the commission chambers at City Hall, 120 South Florida Avenue.
A second special-called City Commission meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 11, to hold public hearings regarding the Fiscal Year 2019-2020 millage rate and annual budget as well as the assessment rolls for the Blue Lake Woods and Glenwood Springs subdivisions Street Lighting Districts. That meeting will also take place in the commission chambers at City Hall.
Citizen Information Center
The City of DeLand's Citizen Information Center will close at noon Wednesday, September 4.
The number for the CIC is 386-626-7000 and dial * to be transferred. Residents may also email the CIC at firstname.lastname@example.org.

For emergencies, people should dial 911.
There is currently no curfew being imposed on the west side of the county.
As incidents such as downed trees and power lines are reported to our Operations Center, they will be displayed on our GIS map
Please know that the incidents will only pertain to incidents in the rights-of-way.
Garbage and recycling pickup services are suspended Tuesday and Wednesday due to weather. We will attempt to resume garbage service on Thursday.
Here is the makeup schedule:
Tuesday customers will have their trash picked up on Thursday.
Wednesday customers on Friday.
Thursday customers on Saturday.
Friday customers on Sunday.
Debris created by the storm will be picked up separately.
Stetson University is canceling classes at its DeLand campus after 12 p.m., Friday, Aug. 30. Classes are cancelled for all four campuses -- DeLand, Celebration, the Tampa Center and College of Law in Gulfport -- Saturday, Aug. 31 through Wednesday September 4.
Due to Hurricane Dorian, utility bills that are due on September 3 have been extended to September 9. There will be no late fees and water will not be turned off during this time. If you have a water emergency, please contact the water plant at 386-626-7203.
In the event that there are power outages in the DeLand area, customers may report an outage using the outage line number 800-228-8485.
