Construction to begin on DeLand Municipal Airport projects

(DeLand, FL) – With plans to transform DeLand Municipal
Airport into a hub for the sport aviation industry, construction is set to
begin on the airport's Sport Aviation Village and the Airport Administrative

City officials will formally break ground at the sites of
the two facilities beginning at 4:30 p.m. Monday, October 30 at the DeLand
Municipal Airport. Officials will gather first at 1777 Langley Avenue,
then travel to the two groundbreaking sites.

Groundbreaking Ceremonies

The construction will kick off the 2nd
Annual Sport Aviation Showcase, bringing over 100 aviation vendors to the area
to display some of the latest innovations in the sport aviation
industry. The Showcase will take place November 2-4, 2017 on the DeLand
Airport campus.

The DeLand Sport Aviation Village will be located on a
40-acre tract of land on the east side of the airport property, providing
facilities for aircraft manufacturers, dealers, owners and novices. To be built
in four phases, the facilities will aid in economic development as well as the
creation of jobs, to include training and retention. Phase I will include
five to six commercial use hangars with offices, 21
T-Hangars and ample storage hangars.

The airport's administrative building will be centrally
located and will move administrative staff from the maintenance building. The
6,000 foot facility will include two meeting rooms, one with a
kitchenette to promote small meetings and gatherings. It
will support both tenants of the airfield as well as of the airport’s business

The administration building is expected to be complete
by Fall 2018, while parts of the Sport Aviation Village could be open
by late spring.
