(DeLand, FL) -  The Christmas season is so big here in DeLand that we take two days to celebrate!

At 5:30 p.m. Friday, the City Commission will gather around the city Christmas tree outside of City Hall, 120 South Florida Avenue, where we will light the tree.

Santa Claus is expected to arrive on a fire engine shortly after the lighting to greet the children in attendance. He will then make his way over to Pioneer Park at 6 p.m. to light the Christmas tree in Downtown DeLand and meet with children there.

At 5:30 p.m. Saturday, the Rotary Clubs of DeLand will present the 70th annual DeLand Christmas Parade.

Woodland Boulevard will be shut down beginning about 3 p.m. from Plymouth to Beresford Avenue and is expected to reopen by 9:30 p.m. Saturday.
