(DeLand, FL) – Charles Paiva was appointed Monday to serve in Seat 2 of the DeLand City Commission.
City Commissioners on Monday interviewed seven candidates who applied to fill the vacant commission seat. The seat is open after Jeff Hunter was suspended by Governor Rick Scott. Paiva will serve on the commission until the term ends in 2020 or if Governor Scott reinstates Hunter.
Paiva was appreciative of being chosen by the commission.
“I very much look forward to continuing the success we have and will continue to have as a city,” he said. Paiva previously served on the City Commission from 2001 to 2005 and 2007 to 2016.
Paiva will be sworn into office before the August 20 City Commission meeting.
