A celebration of live Jazz, Blues, and Gospel music. The festival honors the lives and works of masters like Watts and Sam Rivers, by providing opportunities to experience this artistic heritage and to find the artists within themselves. UPDATE: The 'Thin Man' Watts Jazz Fest is moving indoors to stay dry! ALL acts that were to perform at the African American Museum of the Arts' Dr. Noble 'Thin Man' Watts Amphitheater will perform instead at Chisholm Community Center, 520 S. Clara Ave. That's Thom Chambers Quartet, 2 p.m.; Ictus, 4 p.m.; and Raisin Cake Orchestra featuring Linda Cole, 6 p.m.Bands scheduled to perform at Cafe DaVinci are moving to alternate Downtown DeLand venues, as follows: Renderglow at Abbey, 117 N. Woodland Blvd., 1 p.m.; The Vibe Band at Elusive Grape, 129 N. Woodland Blvd., 2:45 p.m.; and the Joe Gilabert Quintet at Abbey, 5 p.m.Your $15 (in advance) ticket admits you to ALL this great music.
As for the free gospel concert at noon on the north steps of the Historic Volusia County Courthouse, we will hope for the best from Mother Nature and keep a close eye on the clouds. THANK YOU to all the jazz fans, venue owners and musicians for your understanding and flexibility!
