Seats 1, 2, 4 and 5 are vacant on the EDC. The Committee shall consist of five (5) people, each of whom shall be appointed for staggered terms for a period of two (2) years. No fewer than three (3) of the members shall be City residents. The membership of the Committee may, at the discretion of the City Commission, include designees of the Chamber of Commerce, and representatives from industry, academia, aviation, and businesses operating within the City limits.  The City Commission may appoint a Commissioner to serve as an ex officio member of  the Committee




Seat 7 on the DeLand Planning Board is vacant.  Shall consist of seven members who shall be residents of the City, who shall be appointed by the City Commission. The terms of the members shall be four years. Each year a chairman is elected from among the members.



(a)        To acquire and maintain in current form such basic information  and materials as are necessary to an understanding of past trends, present conditions, and forces at work to cause  changes in these conditions.

(b)        To prepare, amend and revise a comprehensive and coordinated  general plan for meeting present requirements and such future  requirements as may be foreseen.

(c)        To establish principles and policies for guiding action in the  development of the area.

(d)        To prepare and recommend for adoption to the governing  authority a zoning ordinance and map for its political jurisdiction.

(e)        To amend or supplement the zoning regulations and districts  adopted.

(f)        To prepare and recommend to the governing body, other  ordinances and resolutions promoting orderly development,  along the lines indicated in the comprehensive plan for the  growth an improvement of the area.

(g)        To determine whether specific proposed developments conform to  the principles and requirements of the comprehensive plan.

(h)        To conduct public hearings as may be required to gather  information necessary for the drafting, establishment and maintenance of the comprehensive plan.

(i)         To make, cause to be made or obtain special duties on the  location,condition and adequacy of specific facilities of the  area.

(j)         To keep the governing body and the general public informed and  advised as to these matters.

(k)        To perform any other duties which may be lawfully assigned to  it by the City Commission.

Shall consist of seven members appointed by the City Commission to serve for a period of two (2) years.  The Committee shall serve the purpose of reviewing tree planting within the City and recommending to the City Commission ways to improve the City’s tree program. City residency is not required.

The Metropolitan Planning Organization is a statutory committee created to meet federal requirements for obtaining and expending federal transportation funds.  The authority and responsibility of an MPO is for the management of a continuing, cooperative and comprehensive transportation planning process that results in the development of plans and programs which are consistent with the comprehensively planned development of an urbanized area.

BICYCLE AND PEDESTRIAN TASK FORCE: The purpose of the Bicycle and Pedestrian Task Force is to provide input regarding alternate means of transportation in the urban environment.  Citizen appointments to the Bicycle and Pedestrian Task Force are made by the City Commission representative to the MPO.
