Applying For A Permit

To apply for a Fire Safety Permit, such as installing or modifying Fire Systems, you must register for an account and apply online at the Accela Citizen Portal. For information regarding building permits and Accela Account Instructions, please visit the Building Department Webpage

Fire Alarm

Fire Sprinkler/Fire Standpipe

  • Plans

Fire Suppression - Commercial Kitchens/Clean Rooms

Fire Underground - Private Hydrants/Underground/Fire Backflow Replacement

Each type of underground permit is required to be separately permitted.

Fire Pump - Pump System/Pump Controller

The Fire Pump Controller will also be verified by a qualified City electrical inspector.


Plans that are not required to be signed and sealed by Code still need to be legible shop drawings. 

The Accela Citizen Portal has within it a Plan Room. This is where permitting documents will be submitted. Minimum document requirements will hinder the applicant from submitting if not met. If there is a required document that you believe does not need to be submitted or cannot be submitted at the time of permitting, please submit a letter explaining why you believe this is not required, on letterhead, and notarized by the qualifier, under the document type in which it applies.
