Gould was one of DeLand's foremost historians; it
is through his early efforts that the history of
DeLand has been preserved. He was a prolific writer
of DeLand and West Volusia History; he published
articles in various magazines and newspapers that
were circulated state wide. He was also an early
member of the City Council, served for many years
as Chairman of the Volusia County School Board and
was the founder of the V.W. Gould Insurance Agency.
