Subscribe to News
There are two ways you can subscribe to automatically receive news updates from the City of DeLand.

What is an RSS Feed?
A format for content distribution, RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. RSS is a system that allows a user to get automatic updates from multiple web sites whenever new content is published on these sites. It acts like a personal web reader by checking your selected sites regularly for new content. If you set up an RSS feed from the New York Times Sports section, for example, you would be notified whenever a new article was posted. The notification takes place in an RSS Reader.

How do I start using RSS Feeds?
To use a site's RSS feature, an RSS reader is required.
  • Choose an RSS reader. An internet search will return many options. Some readers are web-based, such as Google Reader, My MSN, My Yahoo and Bloglines. Web-based readers require no software installation and are accessible from any computer that has Internet access.  Other readers are downloadable applications, such as Feedreader or FeedDemon.
  • Once you've chosen an RSS reader, follow the instructions to download, install, and open the reader.
  • Decide what type of content you want the RSS reader to monitor. Many web sites provide RSS, which can usually be found on those sites as a link. An orange button is often used to display the service's availability. Sometimes the RSS feed is automatically added to the RSS reader and updates are sent every time new content is available. Alternatively, you may have to click the RSS link and copy it into your RSS reader.

Email Subscriber

We have implemented a new way of keeping our residents informed of events and meetings that are occuring in the town. Whenever a new event or document is posted to the Web site you have an opportunity to receive a copy of that posting in your personal EMail box, automatically. It won't be necessary to visit the Web site, although we encourage you to do so, since not all folders will be subscribable.  And if you decide that you no longer want to receive notices automatically, you can use the following form to remove your name from the list.

How to Subscribe:

For example, to properly subscribe to News & Announcements you are required to supply the following information:

        • Select an action: Add My Name or Remove My Name
        • Select from the Mail Lists: e.g. News & Announcements
        • Your e-mail address: e.g.

If your EMail address is correct then the Subscriber will respond to your request promptly and you will receive an EMail confirmation in your incoming mailbox.  In order to protect your privacy, you MUST reply to this email in order to receive postings from the list.  This is a receive-only list and you may remove your name from it at any time by using this form.

Under Florida law, e-mail addresses are public records. If you do not want your e-mail address released in response to a public-records request, do not send electronic mail to this entity. Instead, contact this office by phone or in writing.
