Full Time And Reserve Police Officers
City of DeLand: Full-time and reserve Police Officers. The following requirements must be met before being offered a position as a sworn police officer.
Qualifications for Employment As a Police Officer with the DeLand Police Department
- Be at least 19 years of age at time of application.
- Be a U.S. citizen.
- High School diploma or equivalent (GED)
- No convictions, felony, or misdemeanor involving perjury or false statements.
- No dishonorable discharge from any branch of the armed services.
- Be of good moral character.
- Pass a physical abilities test.
- Pass a pre-background investigation.
- Pass a written examination, Police review board.
- Pass the completed background process which includes:
The following will be performed:
- Financial & Credit history check
- Neighborhood check
- Employment verification
- Polygraph examination
- Drug screen & Medical examination
- Psychological examination
After successfully meeting all of the above requirements, the applicant may be immediately offered a position or placed on an eligibility list for up to one year. Once the applicant has been selected for hire, he or she must submit to a drug screening, physical examination, and psychological evaluation. Full-time Police Officers are paid a minimum of $14.47 per hour or $31,602 annually plus eligible salary incentives. Reserve Police Officers are paid a minimum of $6.86 per hour.
