Greetings
from Patrick T. Kelly, Fire
Chief

On
behalf of myself, my staff and the professional Firefighters of
the DeLand Fire Department (DFD) I would like to thank you for
visiting our website. Incorporated in 1882 DeLand is the county
seat of
Volusia
County
and home to
Stetson
University
. The City of
DeLand
is proud of its deep historical roots in the early development of
central
Florida
. The members of this community honor its past and work diligently
to remember the vision of what is now a nationally recognized
historical community.
The DFD has a
diverse workforce consisting of 44 state certified firefighters
and officers, a Fire Marshal, Fire Inspector and two professional
staff personnel. Together, these men and women provide Fire,
EMS
, and Prevention services to approximately 26,000 fulltime DeLand
residents. Because DeLand is the county seat, the daily population
can grow to 70,000 people making DeLand an exciting and bustling
community.
Services provided
by DFD include fire suppression/rescue, BLS medical responses,
plans review, fire inspections and numerous public education
programs. The DFD also has many special teams and programs such as
an Honor Guard, EMS Bike Team, CPR instruction and C.E.R.T. and
child safety seat programs. There is more information on these
programs and other fire prevention information throughout our
website.
I encourage to you to take this opportunity to
review our website as well as the entire city's to discover what
DeLand has to offer. We are proud to be known as the "
Athens
of
Florida
" and I am sure once you visit our city you will agree that
DeLand is a great place to work, live and visit. If I can be of
any further assistance please feel free to contact me at kellyp@deland.org
