Do I need a City Business Tax Receipt?
· Yes, if you have a business location within the City limits of DeLand.
· Yes, if you are operating as a peddler or solicitor within the City limits of DeLand.
· No Mobile Food Carts.

What information do I need to obtain a Business Tax Receipt?
· You will need a FEIN (Federal Employee Identification Number) or Social Security Number.
· Business Location and Zoning approval.
· If you are not using you full name as a business name, you will need a fictitious name from the State of Florida. If you are incorporated you do not need a fictitious name but will need copies of the incorporation papers.
· Tax ID number (Parcel Number) of the property where the business is located.
· If you do not own the property you will need the owners name, address and phone number.
· If you are regulated by the State for the type of business you are in, then copies of those licenses will be needed.
· Copy of Florida Driver's License.

Where do I get my Business Tax Receipt?

Can I operate a business from my home?
Home Occupations are allowed with restrictions. It must be for family members only and not create any more traffic than would normally be created by your family. It is best to check with the Building Department office before planning a home occupation.

What about zoning?
Before you lease a building for a business, it is best to check the zoning to be sure that the type of business is allowed in that zoning district. You should also ask if any improvements have to be made to bring the site into compliance with the current Land Development Regulations.

If I get a City Business Tax Receipt, do I still need one from the County?
Yes. Every Business Tax Receipt issued in the City must have a corresponding Volusia County License.
