Dear Citizens of DeLand:
City Commission |
As your elected representatives, we are pleased to provide you
with this
newsletter, which offers current information about your City government and how your tax dollars are being spent. In this edition we are pleased to report that: the new DeLand City Hall is on schedule, the Spring Hill sanitary sewer and Adelle Avenue street scape projects are under construction, and that the City was able to further reduce the ad valorem tax rate when the final tax roll was received in October.
In addition, I am proud to announce that the City was one of five finalists for the Florida League of Cities’ “City Spirit Award” in recognition of the Senior Resource Directory and was a recipient of the Florida Redevelopment Association’s “Roy F. Kenzie” award for its work with Volusia County on the Spring Hill Redevelopment Plan.
At the City’s organizational meeting on November 15th, we extended a warm welcome to your new City Commissioner Leigh
Matusick, and recognized the service of outgoing City Commissioner Charles
Paiva.
In January, the City will conduct a community survey through Stetson University to solicit your valuable input on how to improve our City. If you are called by Stetson University, we hope that you will answer their questions. If you want to learn more about your City government please browse the rest of our website. If you have ideas or suggestions as to how we can improve our next newsletter, or topics you would like included, please send them to newsletter@deland.org.
Thank you for taking the time to visit our website. We hope that you’ll enjoy it, and that you’ll find it a useful resource for information. Best wishes to you and your family for a happy, healthy and prosperous new
year.
Sincerely,
