Home Invasion Arrest 910 N. Amelia Ave( Volusia County Sheriff’s Office)

 

Three Masked men broke into an apartment located at 910 N. Amelia Ave, just outside the city limits. The DeLand Police Department assisted the Volusia County Sheriff’s Department  and units quickly converged on the apartment complex after receiving a 911 call from one of the residents.

 

The following subjects were taken into custody by the Volusia County Sheriff’s office:

 

Ryan James Sotero 18 years of age,  Orange City

Emmanuel Taylor 26 years of age, Orange City

Javier Antonio Maldonado-Nieves 28 years of age, Deltona

 

All three of the subjects were charged with armed home invasion, kidnapping,  use of a firearm during the commission of a felony, drug charges and Taylor faces an additional charge of sexual battery after he tore off a victim’s shirt and groped her.

 

All three are currently at the Volusia County Branch jail with no bond allowed.

 

City of DeLand offers free document shredding Dec. 11

The City of DeLand and Emerald Waste Services will provide free document shredding to city residents on December 11, 2010 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Wayne G. Sanborn Center at 751 South Alabama Avenue in DeLand.

Residents are required to bring a form of identification showing proof of residency. Residents will be allowed to shred up to five normal size (~1 cubic foot) boxes per vehicle. In addition to the free shredding service, Emerald Waste Services will have giveaways to city residents for participating.
