Burglary Arrest- Press Release
PIO- Sgt John Anderson
On September 9th, 2010 at approximately 1426 hours, Investigators T. Hughes and C. Jusick of the DeLand Police Department were in the area of Voorhis Avenue and Julia Avenue where they came across two males, one carrying a large plasma screen television. Due to recent burglaries in the area, the Investigators attempted to make contact with the two males. Both males took flight leaving the television behind. The male who had been carrying the television was immediately apprehended. With the assistance of the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office, an immediate perimeter was established to search for the second male but he was not located.
A Volusia County Sheriff’s K-9 unit was utilized and during the search, it assisted in locating two (2) homes that had just been burglarized by the suspects. The television was identified by a victim of one of the burglaries as being their property.
The arrestee was identified as Tyvon Williams (b/m, 18 y.o.a.) of DeLand. Williams was transported to the Volusia County Branch Jail charged with two counts of burglary, resisting
arrest without violence and violation of probation. Williams is on probation for previous burglaries.
Investigators are currently seeking information as to the identity of the second black male involved. Anyone with any additional information is requested to contact Lt. B. Moon of the DeLand Police Department at (386) 740-6920.
