Defined as an “electronic alert”, the E-Lert is used to distribute important information to members of the community using the convenience of internet email. Information is routinely and quickly disseminated that focuses on crime prevention tips, crime trend information, and Be On the Look-Out (BOLO) alerts to specific neighborhoods where a crime has occurred and suspect information is available.
The security and convenience of the E-Lert system allows information to pass quickly between the police department and segments of the community.
The police department has received important information from residents who have observed suspicious people or vehicles in their area.
