Deputy Chief Randel Henderson began his policing career in 1977 with the City of Coral Springs, Florida, where he retired as the Assistant Chief. As a strong proponent for blending a problem solving style of policing with traditional policing methods, he has instructed officers and police officials nationwide about organizational change as well as management and supervisory considerations for departments who chose to adopt this style of policing. A graduate of the Southern Police Institute Command Officers Development Course - University of Louisville, and the FBI National Academy, Deputy Chief Henderson also holds a Masters of Science Degree in Criminal Justice and is currently an adjunct professor at Keiser University’s Daytona Campus where he teaches courses related to criminal justice. He was hired by the City of DeLand in 2001 and has managed both the Patrol Division and the Special Operations Division where he is currently assigned.
