(DeLand, FL) – In honor of Earth Day, the City of DeLand will have its annual tree giveaway on Saturday, April 22.
From 8-11 a.m. April 22, city staff and volunteers will hand out trees at the city’s Public Works facility, 1102 S. Garfield Avenue (Note: Those wanting a tree are asked to enter the complex from Amelia Avenue.) The event is sponsored in part by the DeLand Breakfast Rotary Club, which also provides assistance during the event.
Each residence will be limited to three trees and the giveaway is limited to residents within the DeLand Utility Service area. People should have proof of residence available as well as a giveaway form, which is provided on the City of DeLand website. There is a limit of three trees per residence with maximum of six trees per vehicle. If picking up trees for another person, please bring a written request and the other person’s proof of residence.
Species available this year include American Elm, Bald Cypress, Live Oak, Loquat, Persimmon, Post Oak, Red Maple, Sassafras, Shumard Oak, Sweetgum, Wild Olive, Winged Elm and Yellow Poplar. Some selections of trees are limited and subject to change.
