SUMMARY:   This position organizes and supervises a portion of the Department’s overall program of recreational activities. This position assists with children and adults recreational activities such as arts and crafts.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Supervises and helps with activities such as arts, crafts, drawing, finger-painting, scrapbook exercises, etc.      
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and /or abilities required.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Some interest in recreational activities relating to arts, crafts, painting, etc. The applicant must be able to follow directions in a responsible manner. A Florida driver’s license and a good driving record is required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:  The applicant must also be able to communicate effectively with fellow employees and the participants of the activities.  The applicant must also be able to communicate with, supervise, and assist children and adults /throughout recreational arts and crafts activities.  

REASONING ABILITLY:  The applicant must have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral forms and diagrams. The applicant must also be able to deal with problems involving children and adults during activities.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to personally relate in a respectful and pleasant manner to adults, children and young people.
  • Ability to maintain good order in the use of community buildings and facilities.
  • Sound knowledge of safety practices in the performance of all assigned activities and programs.
  • Knowledge of basic first aid.
  • A pattern of common sense in the performance of duties.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/ADA:  This job requires walking, standing, bending, stooping, reaching, running, jumping, and driving.  The employee will work in a classroom environment.
