Charles Paiva was elected to Seat 2 of the City Commission in November of 2007. Charles previously served on the City Commission from October of 2001 to 2005.
Charles Paiva was born and raised in DeLand, Florida.
Charles Paiva is a 1993 graduate of Deltona High School. He pursued further education at the University of Central Florida earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. He received his Associate of Arts from Daytona State College. He also received his Associate of Science from Seminole State College with his degree as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
Charles Paiva’s governmental experience also included serving on several of DeLand’s advisory boards and committees that included the Airport Master Plan Committee, the Police/Fire Impact Fee Committee, the City Hall Architect Selection Committee and the Spec Martin Design/Build Selection Committee.
Charles is employed by Florida Hospital Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation as a Physical Therapist Assistant at the Wilson Center at Stetson University. He is the owner of Gold Medal Enterprises Guns and Ammo. He was previously employed as a Fitness Coordinator at the DeLand Family YMCA. He was also a Coach of the Boys/Girls Weightlifting Teams at DeLand High School.
Charles Paiva is married to Heather Paiva.
Charles Paiva is a graduate of the DeLand Police Department Citizen’s Police Academy, and of Leadership DeLand. He attended the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Hurricane Preparedness Training Course. He also spent some time as a Senior National USA Olympic Weightlifting Coach. He has been a Guest Lecturer at UCF and DBCC where he spoke on local government, voting and elections.
